Zakynthos might have its famous shipwreck ("navayio") but at Diakofti you can see the bow of the sunken Antiguan-flagged freighter, the "Nordland". The ship ran aground on the rocky islet of Fidonissi on 29 August 2000. For more information on the sinking and its aftermath go to www.itopf.com/nordland.PDF.

The Kavalini* house at the beautiful fishing village of Avlemonas was built in 1827 and is one of the landmark buildings there. Its main feature is the sundial over the entrance.
* Sometimes also spelt Cavallini, Cavalinis & Cavalenes
The fertile, terraced hills of Karavas can be seen in the distance as you approach this beautiful town.
The British-built bridge at Potamos is the second largest masonry bridge on the island. It has recently been restored and the area below the bridge has been pleasantly landscaped.
