This picture is from Kythera soon after the exchange of Greeks for Turks in Smyrna, 1923. These are refugees that have just come back from Smyrna to Kythera. My grandfather Theodore is seated in amongst the younger people. My gother, Helen, is seated to his left and my aunt Mary is seated to his right. This may be some kind of a schooling or a teaching lesson, as the man all dressed up in a suit looks to be a teacher(?). Also the man laying across the front looks relaxed and resting. Maybe some relative of one of the people looking at the web site?
