Sarah started 2004 with a bang swimming personal best times at the Victorian Championships in January in both the 50 and 100 metre breaststroke events - the 100 metre swim boosting her to fourth on the Australian All-time rankings.
Unlucky not to make the 2004 Olympic team in the 200m breaststroke, after finishing third to Leisel Jones and Brooke Hanson at the Olympic Trials.
Swam a world class time to finish third to Hanson and Jade Edmistone over 100m at the 2004 Telstra Australian Short Course Championships in Brisbane, before breaking through for her first Australian title with a world championship qualifying time in the 200 metres breaststroke.
In 2003 she went to Barcelona for the World Championships where she was 17th in the 200m breaststroke, an event she swum after finishing second to Leisal Jones at the Telstra Australian Championships in Sydney.
Sarah was just one of many who made their Australian Open team debut at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, where she finished 8th in the 50m breaststrolke final.
Sarah earned one of the five spots on the team occupied by female breaststrokers after taking silver in the 50m breaststroke at the Telstra Australian Championships . Also finished fourth in the 100m final and seventh in the 200m final at those Australian Championships.
The consistent swimmer who has adopted Victoria since moving from Wollongong, along with coach Rohan Taylor in 2000, has now registered several seasons of good results and signalled a promising future is ahead of her.
